It started with a borrowed microphone and a dare. Ten years ago I walked into a Tuesday open mic with three minutes of jokes about my old hatchback, and the room — all eleven people — laughed in the right places. I have been chasing that feeling ever since.

These days I tour drive-ins, barns, clubs and backyards across the country with an hour about small towns, bad directions and the strange kindness of strangers after dark. No two shows are the same: every crowd gets its own jokes, and every parking lot gets its own encore.

When I am not on stage I am writing in diners, testing new bits on my patient friends, and answering every message from drive-in owners myself. Come say hello after the show — I mean it.
